Rooted in the African American experience, DCDC is a culturally diverse contemporary dance company committed to reaching the broadest audience through exceptional performance and arts-integrated education. Four decades and more than 100 original works after its inception, DCDC boasts an extraordinary collection of works by African-American choreographers, performed by a company whose well-honed technical skills match their heartfelt passion.
Artistic Director Debbie Blunden-Diggs brings a wealth of knowledge, both visionary and practical to DCDC's mission to create great works of dance and to provide educational opportunities to all of the communities where the company performs. During her tenure, the company has expanded traditional concepts of performance venues in an effort to reach deeper into the community and widen the opportunities for more people to see contemporary dance. She strives to make DCDC's education and outreach initiatives as well-known and respected as the company's concert performances.

DCDC offers many unique programming choices, including Highest Praise. This program is the ultimate community collaboration, allowing local musicians and a local gospel choir to take the stage along with DCDC in an evening of unparalleled music and dance that spans religious boundaries. DCDC can also set works on, or create a work with local dancers and make that part of an evening performance.
