RENA SHAGAN ASSOCIATES, INC. (RSA) has grown to become one of the leading arts management firms in the world.
RSA's philosophy is to serve its artists on a one-on-one basis, nurturing their creative process, representing their best interests, and collaborating on how to market their work.
Created in 1979 to provide management for a small group of companies touring in the United States and abroad, RSA specializes in developing and managing touring activity for major dance and theatre companies and has worked with among others, Pina Bausch Tanztheater Wuppertal, Royal Swedish Ballet, Martha Graham Dance Company, Vesturport Theatre and the companies of four MacArthur “genius” fellows: Susan Marshall, Meredith Monk, Trisha Brown and Elizabeth Streb.
RSA also works closely with and values its relationships with the presenter partners who bring the artists' work to the stage.
Recognizing that limited support for the performing arts requires a proactive approach to finding both commissioning and touring funds, RSA creatively and successfully pursues grant opportunities and financial support from government, foundations and individual presenting organizations on behalf of its artists.
RSA personnel maintain a high profile nationally and internationally attending performances, festivals, and conferences and contributing to the field by serving on the boards of ISPA, WAA, Dance/USA, NAPAMA and the American Arts Alliance as well as serving as panelists for the National Endowment for the Arts, regional and state arts agencies.
RSA President Rena Shagan has written the “bible” on booking and tour management, which is used by Arts Administrators in North America and as far away as China, BOOKING AND TOUR MANAGEMENT FOR THE PERFORMING ARTS, published by Allworth Press.
